BIRDS FLYING HIGH

The NFC West has been feast or famine over the last few years with the Seahawks in control of the division making the Playoffs in each of the last 5 years including a Super Bowl win in 2013, while Arizona has made the Playoffs in 2 of the last 3 seasons with an apperance in the 2015 NFC Champiosnhip game. As for the Rams and 49ers, it's been the complete opposite with both teams not even close to making the post season.

SEASON PREVIEW
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

The Seahawks still sit atop the NFC West division but the team is trying to establish a new identity. When they made back to back Super Bowl appearances in 2013 and 2014 they relied on a power running game led by Marshawn Lynch and arguably the leagues best defense. Coming into this season, Lynch is an Oakland Raider, while the defense has lost a great deal of players from those championship years. Despite those changes, Seattle still has enough talent and experience to win the division and possibly make another Super Bowl run.

ARIZONA CARDINALS

The Cardinals did a complete 360 from their 2015 season and it wasn't the turn around they were looking for. After reaching the NFC Championship game, the Cardinals had a season to forget finishing with only 7 wins on the year. Aside from All-Pro Running Back David Johnson, there wasn't much to cheer about for a team that came into the season with Super Bowl aspirations. Despite last seasons let down, Arizona still has a solid roster and is expected to be better this year.

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

It's a new day in San Francisco and a glimmer of hope has been restored into a franchise that is in rebuilding mode. New Head Coach Kyle Shannahan and General Manager John Lynch have their work cut out trying to piece together a roster that doesn't have much talent. With so many areas that need to be addressed, it may take San Fran a few years to get back competitive but you can already see small steps towards improvement.

Preseason Week 2 NFC West
LOS ANGELES RAMS

Life in Los Angeles for the Rams hasn't gone according to plan thus far. When the team arrived last year, there were lofty goals and expectations. They were back in Los Angeles for the first time since 1990, held the number 1 overall draft pick in the 2016 Draft and were featured on HBO Hard Knocks. But after a 3-1 start to the season everything fell apart. By seasons end Head Coach Jeff Fisher was fired and the selection of their #1 Draft pick was highly questioned. After an embarrassing start back in their home town, the media and fans have very little tolerance and aren't buying any excuses for another pathetic season.
